Blue Lou and the Bullyfish

“Blue Lou and the Bullyfish” brings Rainbow Sea to Newtown stage


 On March 15 and 16 Newtown Arts Company will bring the delightful tale of “Blue Lou and the Bullyfish” by Stephanie Arasim Portnoy with Music and Lyrics by Andrea Green as a live show to the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State St. Newtown PA 18940.


This is a musical performance with an anti-bullying message performed by young people for young people. Under the direction of Kristin Kauffman, the characters from the Rainbow Sea explore the challenges faced by Blue Lou to stand up to the bullies and show the true meaning of friendship.

The ensemble cast is comprised of area elementary, middle and high school students including Corinne Pressing of Newtown as Blue Lou; Addison Blumberg of Yardley as Shrimpy, Blue Lou’s best friend; Angela Cook of Langhorne as Octavia; and from Newtown, Gabrielle Kalayjian as Blue Sue and Marissa Cohen as Scatfish.


Additional characters in the Rainbow Sea include Tommy Moore of Langhorne as Hammer, Amanda Hanahan of Yardley as Sleaze, Rachel Rand of Newtown as Claw and  Emmeline Hager of Newtown as Nurse.

Storytellers for this delightful musical include Hayley Gessner of Levittown, Ava Flurry, Christina Lambros and Charlotte Bancroft, all of Newtown, Samantha Cavallo of Langhorne and Sarah Walcott of Yardley.


Rounding out the cast are Catfishes Rileigh Jelen, Casey Schaeffer, Grace Lloyd, Olivia Walcott,  Margaret Lloyd, all of Yardley, Katie Procell of New Hope, Meredith Edwards of Washington Crossing and Gabriella Cavallo of Langhorne, and Little Fishes Abby Gessner and Alana Gessner  of Levittown, Dylan Landes and  Erin Young  of Newtown and Ian Mullins of Churchville.


This limited engagement offers three performances: Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.


Individual tickets are $10 each for general admission. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for a group discount making tickets $8 each.
