Former Democratic Congresswoman Endorses Brian Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick has been endorsed by an Arizona congresswoman who founded a gun safety organization after she nearly died in a shooting in 2011.

Former Democratic Congresswoman Gabby Giffords has endorsed Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in his bid for reelection. Fitzpatrick will face Democrat Scott Wallace in the November mid-term election.

The former Arizona congresswoman founded a gun safety organization following an assassination attempt in 2011. Giffords nearly lost her life in the shooting. Six others were killed.

“The American people are outraged and tired of inaction. They are ready to use their power to demand that the leaders we elect to represent us are committed to creating a world where gun violence is not a daily problem. Voters are calling for leaders who will always put protecting the safety of our communities first, not themselves, and certainly not the gun lobby,"

Fitzpatrick, in a statement, said he is grateful for her endorsement.

"It is a testament to the work I do to not worry about party labels and to do what is best for the people of Bucks and Montgomery counties. By focusing on solving our biggest issues facing our community, including gun safety, in an independent and bi-partisan fashion, a lot can be accomplished," he said.
