NEWTOWN BOROUGH, Pa. — Beatlemania is coming to downtown Newtown on Sunday, July 10 with a free concert on the porch at the historic Newtown Theatre.

In 1969, The Beatles played an unannounced concert on a London rooftop. The historic Newtown Theatre will try to create a similar experience with a free, 30-minute “Beatles on the Porch” concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.

During the concert, North State Street in front of the theatre will be temporarily closed to traffic and the local band, "The Limit," will play a variety of Beatles’ songs – all in the open air on the theatre’s porch. The public is invited to attend.

Following the concert, the theatre will screen “A Hard Day’s Night” at 7:30 p.m. The rock-and-roll movie classic marked The Beatles’ feature film debut. Shot in a mock-documentary style, the film portrays 36 hours in the lives of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they prepare for a television performance.

The movie is part of the theatre’s Harris Comfort Classic Movie Series. Tickets for the movie are $10 for the public and free for theatre members and are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com or at the box office on the night of the event.
