Goats, Hot Dog Pig Races And 5 Shades Of Grey: Grange Fair Day Two
Bucks County's premier agricultural fair takes place through Sunday, August 21 at the fairgrounds in Wrightstown.
WRIGHTSTOWN, Pa. — The Middletown Grange Fair, Bucks County's premier agricultural event, continues its five-day run on Thursday, August 18 with a spotlight on goats and children's activities.

Animal Shows: Goats, Dairy Judging and the Stockmans Contest

More than 500 animals, from bleating sheep and squealing pigs to mooing cows, are again filling the fairground barns with the sounds of the farm. This week's schedule is packed with shows and competitions taking place throughout the five days of the fair.
Unfortunately, due to an Avian Flu statewide caution, chickens, roosters and other fowl won't be making an appearance at this year's Grange Fair. But you can read all about their projects and see pictures of the winners inside the rabbit and poultry barn.
The second day of the fair is bound to get your goat. That's right, it's goat day at the fair. They will be showing at 10 a.m. in the show arena. Also on Thursday is the Raymond C. and Rachel H. Gross 4-H Dairy Judging Contest at 4 p.m. in the show arena followed by the 4-H Stockmans Contest at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday's schedule also includes Make a Bamboo Bee Shelter at 11 a.m., 3 and 6 p.m. in Building One; a Penn State Extension "Ask A Master Gardener Booth" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; a Slow Tractor Race at 8 p.m.; and Tractor Games at various times of the day.
The fair's new Kids Corner will be bustling with activity on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. with Storytime for Bunnies. The schedule also includes a Story Stroll ("We Planted A Tree") from 12 to 3 p.m.; Upcycle Paper Flowers at 1 p.m.; a Pet Club Puppet Show at 2 p.m.; a Fuzzy Critters Storytime at 3 p.m.; and A Pet Club Puppet Show at 6 p.m.
The fair's three day famous chicken dinner will be served from 3 to 8 p.m. beginning on Thursday. You can also enjoy the farm fresh dinner on Friday and Saturday either as a sit down experience or take out.
The exhibition barns are again bursting with 4-H exhibits, vegetables, floral exhibits, home products, needlecraft and more. Free entertainment is ongoing throughout the fair. A vendor barn is filled with commercial exhibits to explore. And the food is plentiful from hot dogs and hamburgers to crepes, BBQ, water ice and Goodnoe ice cream.
For the kids and teens, Skelly's Amusements is back with rides and games.
Other fair favorites returning this year include the tractor parade, which will again make be making its rounds Wednesday to Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and again on Sunday at 4 p.m.
And don't miss the competitive hot dog pig races, which are also back and squealing throughout the course of the fair.
On Thursday evening, 5 Shades of Grey will entertain on the main stage from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The band performs modern and classic pop, rock and soul.
