Holiday Movie Lineup Announced By Newtown Theatre

Christmas classics make their annual return to the big screen in Newtown Borough.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — From "White Christmas" starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney to "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase and the gang, Christmas classics return to the big screen during the month of December at the Historic Newtown Theatre.

This year's movie lineup is packed with classics, including the 75th Anniversary screening of "It's A Wonderful Life" and a grownup screening of "Elf."

  • “The Bells of St. Mary’s” – Thursday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie. Sponsored by Attleboro Wealth Management.
  • “White Christmas” – Sunday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie. Sponsored by Alice Hart Hughes, Esq.
  • “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” – Tuesday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie. Sponsored by Attleboro Wealth Management.
  • “White Christmas” (sing-along version) – Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie. Sponsored by Alice Hart Hughes, Esq.
  • “Elf – Family Screening” – Saturday, December 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie.
  • “It’s a Wonderful Life” 75th Anniversary Screening – Sunday, December 18 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $10 for theatre members and are available online at TheNewtownTheatre.com.   • “A Christmas Story” – Friday, December 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and available at the box office 30 minutes prior to the movie. Sponsored by Christine McKee.
  • “Elf – Grownups Screening” – Friday, December 23 at 8 p.m. Only elves 21 and older will be admitted. Doors will open one hour before showtime. In the hour leading up to the movie, guests will enjoy one complementary drink (beer, wine, canned cocktail, or a signature Elf-themed cocktail), free popcorn, a trivia contest, and a costume contest. Elf-themed prizes will be given for trivia winners, and the best-dressed elf will win a free theatre rental. Tickets are $25 and are only available online at TheNewtownTheatre.com.   • “Polar Express” – Four screenings – Saturday, December 17 at 10 a.m.; Sunday, December 18 at 10 a.m.; Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m. (sold out); and Saturday, December 24 at 10 a.m. (sold out). Free hot chocolate for everyone and a Santa sleigh bell for each child given out by the Big Man himself. Tickets are only available online at TheNewtownTheatre.com .
