Huge Turnout For Bucks County Peace Vigil Thursday Night: Report

Organizers bought 200 candles for the event and ran out due to impressive turnout, reports say.

Lower Makefield's Garden of Reflection 9-11 memorial was packed with people who came out for a peace-focused vigil that was organized to bring the community together Thursday night, according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

According to the Times, organizers for the event purchased 200 candles and ran out due to the large turnout from Bucks County community members.

Organizers included Democratic state Rep. Steve Santarsiero, Republican State Sen. Chuck McIlhinney and The Peace Center, a Langhorne-based nonprofit, the Times reports.

"We can’t allow the ratcheting up of hate in our communities," McIlhinney said at the vigil. “There is no place for hate…We’re all Americans, and we need to stand united."

"The turnout is a testament to the spirit of the community," Santarsiero said Thursday night. "We’re speaking with one voice against hate."

The outlet reports many of the attendees felt proud of the turnout and their community for supporting tolerance and love.
