NEWTOWN, PA — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Newtown for 2023

July 4 Festivities

What: Revolutionary Run

Where: Washington Crossing Historic Park
When: Tuesday, July 4 beginning at 8 a.m.

The community is invited to participate in the 41st Annual Rev Run on July 4th at Washington Crossing Historic Park. There’s fun for all – families, walkers, occasional and serious runners. Sign up for a 1-mile fun run, 5K or 10K certified road run. Proceeds will benefit the Upper Makefield Emergency Fund, UMBA Scholarships, UMBA Sunshine Fund, the Upper Makefield Fire Department, and the Washington Crossing Historic Park. Register online until July 3 at 11:59 p.m. to get a discounted rate, and a t-shirt and to avoid long lines. What: Living History On The Fourth
Where: Washington Crossing Historic Park
When: Tuesday, July 4 from noon to 4 p.m.

The public is invited to step back in time to July 4, 1776 at Washington Crossing Historic Park. During this special living-history event, visitors can explore a military encampment and watch Colonial townspeople demonstrate and sell their crafts. A highlight of the day will be readings of the Declaration of Independence at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. At 2:45 p.m. in the visitor center auditorium, historical interpreter David Price will give a short talk about “The Battle of Assunpink Creek: The Most Pivotal Moment of the Revolutionary Ware?” Price is the author of a trilogy of books about the Ten Crucial Days of the Revolution. He will be available to sign copies of his books, which are sold in the park’s gift shop. Admission to this living history event is $8 for people 12 and over, $4 for children ages 5 to 11, and free for those under age five, active-duty military, and members of the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Families with up to two adults and two children living in the same household can purchase a single-family ticket for $20. All proceeds from this event support educational and historical programming in the park.

What: 16th Annual Patriotic Concert

Where: St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Northampton Township
When: 7 p.m. on July 3

The free concert by the Verdi Concert Band will include patriotic melodies, Broadway show tunes, a Salute to the Armed Forces, and more. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, a flag to wave and a bell to ring for the Liberty Bell March. Throughout the evening, the Knights of Columbus will be serving sausage and pepper sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, soft pretzels, soda, Italian water ice, candy and water. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors.

What: The Lower Southampton Fourth of July Parade
Where: Parade steps off at Second Street & Bustleton Pikes in Feasterville
When: 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. (Rain date is Saturday, July 8.)

“Remember Why It’s The 4th of July” is the theme of the Lower Southampton Fourth of July Parade to be held in Feasterville on Wednesday, July 4th beginning at 1 p.m. The public is invited free of charge. The parade will begin at Second Street & Bustleton Pike and move north on Route 213 Bridgetown Pike to the Lower Southampton Intermediate School and the Lower Southampton Township grounds. Two of the major highlights of this year’s fun & festivities will be the baby and bicycle competitions. Registration for those events will take place at Wage Electric on Bustleton Pike on the day of the parade. Rain date is Saturday, July 7th.

What: 50th Annual Southampton Days Country Fair and Fireworks
Where: Tamanend Upper Southampton Park, 1255 Second Street Pike, Southampton
When: July 3 to 8.

The 50th Annual Southampton Days Country Fair takes place July 3 to 8. with events, a parade and fireworks. Visit SouthamptonDays.com for more information. On July 4, a baby parade starts at 9 a.m. followed by a parade at 9:30 a.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

What: Fonthill Castle Fourth in Doylestown
Where: Tuesday, July 4
When: 12 to 4 p.m.

Fonthill Castle will celebrate Independence Day with some old-fashioned fun, where guests enjoy a day of fun, food, games, crafts, entertainment and live music. Highlights of the day include the children’s decorated bike parade, wheelbarrow and sack races, tug-of-war, live musicians, and food trucks. Antique bicycles, historic town ball (a precursor to baseball), and other fun activities make this a day to remember. Admission: $5 for adults, $1 for youth (ages 6-17), and free for children 5 and under. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Tickets sold at the door will be cash only. This event will be held rain or shine. Enter at Swamp Road (Rt. 313) entrance, between North Street and East Court Street, and follow parking signs.

What: Fireworks
Where: New Hope-Lambertville (Delaware River)
When: August 4 and Sept. 1 at 9:10 p.m.

Fireworks will return to the riverfront communities of New Hope and Lambertville this summer in a public showcase of unity and inclusivity. Thanks to an anonymous donation, the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce and New Hope Celebrates are teaming up to present summer displays over the Delaware River on Friday, August 4 and Friday, September 1. The 10-minute-long displays will be launched into the sky above the Delaware River at about 9:10 p.m. from a barge located off of the Waterloo Street ramp about 500 feet south of the bridge. What: Red, White & Blue BBQ Bash
Where: Peddler's Village, Lahaska
When: Tuesday, July 4 from 12 to 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 4 Peddler’s Village will host its Red, White & Blue BBQ Bash. Taking place from 12 to 5 p.m., the BBQ Bash will feature all-American grilled favorites, festive music, and old-fashioned games including sack races, a balloon toss, watermelon-eating contests, and more. During a Bluegrass & Blueberries Festival on July 8 and 9, guests can enjoy local blueberries, blueberry-themed food and beverages including pies, live bluegrass and country music, food trucks, kids’ activities, and shop specials. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Peddler’s Village shops will be open until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. The festival will be held rain or shine.
