Kathleen Mulholland Running To Continue On Council Rock School Board

Kathleen Mulholland, who was appointed to the Council Rock School Board in July, is running in the general election to remain on the board.

NEWTOWN, PA — Kathleen Mulholland, who was appointed to the Council Rock School Board in July, is running in the general election to remain on the board representing Region 1. She will face Newtown Borough resident Mariann McKee, a retired elementary school teacher.

Mulholland, who has lived in the area for 23 years, was appointed to fill out the remainder of a term left vacant by Bill Foster. He resigned over the summer when he moved out of the district.

In addition to the Council Rock School Board, Mulholland also serves on the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology board. Mulholland is active in several community organizations; she is the founder of the Newtown Library Poetry Series. She also served as a committeewoman for many years in Newtown Borough.

Among her priorities for improving the school district is focusing on substance abuse issues.

In an announcement about her intentions to run for the seat, Mulholland said she is working with District Attorney Matt Weintraub and Debbie Moskovitz, founder of Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth, to address the opioid crisis.

She says she is working to create a countywide consortium of school board members.

"Many districts have expressed their interest so far. But for now she is engaging community leaders for their opinions, attending Nar-Anon meetings, and other drug prevention meetings, and questioning church and synagogue leaders as to what they think will help," she said in the announcement.
