Lindenhurst Road Gas Main Project Reaches Halfway Point
PECO expects the five-month project to be wrapping up in early November.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The PECO gas line installation project on Lindenhurst Road has reached its halfway point with work expected to be completed around Nov. 1.
PECO is upgrading its natural gas distribution system in Newtown and Lower Makefield townships as part of a multi-million-dollar gas main improvement project to meet the growing need and demand for safe, reliable, affordable natural gas.
As part of the project, which began in mid-May, work crews have been installing nearly 9,000 feet of steel natural gas main on Lindenhurst Road to improve reliability and increase natural gas capacity in the area. The investment will also allow additional homes, businesses and communities to convert to natural gas.

Emergency access, mail and package delivery, trash removal, and school bus transportation is being maintained throughout the project.
According to PECO, after the main is complete, seven gas services will need to be transferred to the
new main followed by abandonment of the old main. PECO also said that the full closure of Lindenhurst will no longer be required. The roadway was originally scheduled to close for four weeks as part of the project.
