Local Artists Showing Heart For BCCC's Scholarship Fund

The show features more than 160 works by 100 artists, with proceeds going to the local community college's scholarship fund.

Bucks County Community College's seventh annual “Show Some HeART 125” art show and sale is now underway at the The Gallery at Lower Bucks Campus in Bristol. It will be open through March 23.

The show features more than 160 works by more than 100 artists. Each work is priced at $125, with $25 from every sale going to the Bucks County Community College Foundation’s student scholarship fund.

Participating groups include Artists of Bristol on the Delaware, Artists of Yardley, ARTSBRIDGE, and the New Hope Art League, as well as individual artists.

A free opening reception will be held this Friday, Feb. 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The evening will feature hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and entertainment by the Cindy Ruenes and Steve Rocca Duo. Exhibition sponsor Penn Community Bank will be holding a raffle in which the winner can select the artwork of his or her choice.

The festivities will continue Saturday, Feb. 11, with a free “Professional Preparation and Marketing for Artists” seminar with local artists Donna Lovely and Rodney Miller. The seminar, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Art Studio (room 136), will provide tips and techniques for artists to increase the visibility of their work and the opportunity to sell their work, according to information from the college.

Plus, “Arts in the Afternoon” will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11 in the Student Commons area. That event will include light refreshments, demonstrations and talks with local artists, and live music by celebrated local guitarist Michael Notarangelo.

The juried exhibition will be judged by Gwen Shrift, features writer for the Bucks County Courier Times, theIntelligencer, and the Burlington County Times. Cash prizes are sponsored by the Grundy Museum.

Admission to the show is free.
