Local Shop Celebrating Record Store Day

The sixth annual Record Store Day is Saturday and Newtown Book & Record Exchange has a full lineup of live music to celebrate the occasion. 

The shop, located on State Street next to the Hardware House, will host live music by local artists from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Record Store Day began in 2007 as a way to celebrate independently-owned record stores, according to the event website. It is held annually on the third Saturday in April.

"This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day," according to the Record Store Day website.
