Lt. Governor Jim Cawley Named Head of United Way

Cawley, a Bucks County resident and former County Commissioner, will begin his role in early February.

Outgoing lieutenant governor Jim Cawley has been named president and chief executive officer of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, the organization announced Tuesday.

Cawley, a Bucks County resident and former Bucks County Commissioner, will begin his role in early February, after his term as lieutenant governor ends. He was selected after a six-month national search, according to the United Way.

“As president and CEO, Cawley will lead the organization’s work to improve education, income and health for the region’s most vulnerable populations, while also strengthening the regional safety net,” the organization said in a statement.

“We considered a wide cross section of candidates, and Jim was the clear choice,” United Way board chairman Lon Greenberg said. “As lieutenant governor, he also has a unique understanding of how United Way’s Impact areas connect, and how strategic improvements in education, income and health can lift the entire region.”

Cawley said he is “thrilled” about the next chapter.
