Work To Begin On Lurgan Road Bridge Project In Upper Makefield

The bridge over Pidcock Creek is scheduled to be closed through late November with local access maintained.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 15 on a project to replace the Lurgan Road bridge over a branch of Pidcock Creek in Upper Makefield, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

According to PennDOT,once construction begins the bridge will be closed through late November with local access maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

All traffic will be detoured during construction., according to PennDOT.

Built in 1910, the 16-foot-long by 23-foot-wide single-span concrete encased steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 971 vehicles per day.

The Lurgan Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT will be rehabilitating or replacing under a $7.9 million project.Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
