Major Renovation, Addition Proposed At Newtown Shopping Center
There are big plans proposed for the Village at Newtown Shopping Center, including new buildings and an overall facelift.

The owners of the Village at Newtown Shopping Center have big plans in mind for the site's future.
Brixmor Property Group, which owns the shopping center in Newtown Township, has submitted plans for a major renovation and expansion. It’s an effort to make the shopping center appeal to high-end tenants, the Newtown Advance reported.
According to a zoning plan submitted to the township, the property owners are hoping to add three new buildings to a portion of the shopping center across from McCaffrey’s. To make way for the buildings, the two existing buildings, including the Bank of America, would be demolished.

Combined, the three new buildings in that portion of the shopping center would have 47,500-square feet of retail space, the plans propose.
Another 6,000-square-foot building is proposed near where Premier Urgent Care and Barre 3 is located.

Harvest Seasonal Grill, a farm to table wine bar, has plans to move into the portion of the shopping center previously occupied by Margiotti and Kroll Pediatrics. The children’s medical practice has since moved to a freestanding building on Newtown-Yardley Road.
To accommodate that addition, Party Fair will be moved within the shopping center.
Additionally, a 3,500-square-foot freestanding bank is proposed near Saladworks, as well as a 1,600-square-foot freestanding café.
The plans were reviewed in April by the Newtown Township Planning Commission. The proposal will be discussed at a Board of Supervisors work session on Monday, May 16. That meeting starts at 8 p.m. at the township building.
The Advance reports the plans as proposed require six variances and that officials on the planning commission have concerns regarding parking.
Current shops in the center include McCaffrey’s Supermarket, Pier One Imports, Hand and Stone Massage, Oishi and Serenity Nails.
