Man Arrested For Using Fake Prescription at Newtown Pharmacy

A Bensalem man who police say tried to use a fraudulent prescription at a Newtown Township pharmacy was arrested Tuesday by Newtown Township police.
Mark West, 32, of Brown Avenue in Bensalem faces numerous charges in connection with the incident, including: obtaining or possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery or deception, criminal attempt to procure a controlled substance using a fraudulent prescription with a forged signature, possession and attempting to possess a controlled substance without a valid prescription from a licensed practitioner.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the Rite Aid Pharmacy on South Eagle Road at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report that someone had presented a fraudulent prescription to the pharmacist.

The responding officer met with pharmacist, who explained that they had recently received an alert from a doctor’s office in Philadelphia regarding prescription pads with his information. The pharmacist told the officer that a man had just dropped off one of the phony prescriptions for oxycodone.
The officer remained on scene waiting for the subject to pick up the prescription. A short time later, West came into the pharmacy to pick up the prescription and was positively identified as the person who dropped the prescription off earlier in the day.

West was taken into custody and transported to headquartert. He was arraigned by Judge Benz and released on $25,000 bail.
