New Year’s Day Fire Claims Life In Newtown Township
Firefighters and police responded to Headley Drive around 5:30 a.m. on January 1 for heavy fire at a townhouse.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A fire ripped through a Newtown Township townhouse in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day killing one person.
Newtown Fire and Emergency Services Chief Glenn Forsyth confirmed the fatality, but said the name was being withheld pending the notification of family.
Firefighters and police responded to Headley Drive around 5:30 a.m. on January 1 for a townhouse fire in the Headley Trace development.

“Upon arrival we had heavy fire on the first floor of the dwelling. The fire was placed under control at approximately 6:02 a.m.,” Forsyth said.
Crews were on scene for approximately one and a half hours, initially knocking down the fire and then conducting cleanup operations.

The Newtown Emergency Services were assisted at the scene by firefighters from Yardley- Makefield, Langhorne-Middletown, Northampton, Upper Makefield, William Penn, Penndel and Falls Township. Newtown Ambulance and Newtown Township Police were also on the scene.
Cover companies were Lingohoken Fire Company and the Feasterville Fire Company.
The fire is under investigation by the Newtown Emergency Services Department, the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Newtown Township Police Department.
