Newtown Christmas Tree Lighting Set For Dec. 1
Newtown's annual Christmas tree lighting will be held Friday, Dec. 1 at the Newtown Firehouse on Liberty Street.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown's annual Christmas tree lighting will be held Friday, Dec. 1 at the Newtown Firehouse on Liberty Street. The tree will light up at 7 p.m.
Santa will be at the tree lighting and then on the porch at the Firehouse, according to information from the Newtown Mercantile Group. The Santa House has been moved to 16 S. State Street, in front of Alternate Dimension Toys. Santa will be at the house on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, 16 and 17 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. There will also be face painting and carolers.
The holiday festivities will continue with annual Holiday Parade on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. The annual tradition, organized by the Newtown Business Association and sponsored by McCaffrey's, features a variety of floats, entertainment and community organizations.

Sponsored by McCaffrey's, the parade kicks off at the Stocking Works on South State Street. From South State Street, the parade continues north to Washington Avenue and makes a left turn, then turns right onto Sycamore Street. The parade eventually ends at the corner of Sycamore Street and Durham Road.
The parade features marching bands, boy and girl scouts, classic cars, Mummers and much more. Santa usually makes an appearance. Click here to see a full list of parade participants.
