NEWTOWN, PA — The annual Newtown Holiday Parade is this Sunday, Dec. 2. The parade, organized by the Newtown Business Association and sponsored by McCaffrey's, will step off at 2 p.m.

The annual parade aims to provide a "magical experience for the whole community," according to organizers from the Newtown Business Association. "It is a great opportunity for local business to get involved and for families to line the streets to watch a spectacular event," the NBA said, noting in 2017, more than 50 groups participated.

The parade starts at the Stocking Works building on South State Street. It continues north to Washington Avenue and makes a left turn, then turns right onto Sycamore Street. The parade ends at Sycamore Street and Durham Road.

The parade features community groups, Mummers, antique cars, local marching bands, demonstrations and more.

Each group will be judged by a panel that reviews presentation, creativity and theme. Last year's parade award categories judged included: Most Festive Float, Best Overall Float, Most Creative non-Float Vehicle, Best Holiday Spirit non-Float Vehicle, Best Small Walking Group, Best Mid-Size Walking Group, Best Large Walking Group, Best Costume Mummers, Best Performance Mummers, and Best in Show.

All winners will receive a certificate of recognition and will be announced shortly after the parade ends.
