Newtown Quakers Aging Series Continues with "Legal and Financial"

Newtown Quaker Meeting “Aging Well Series” Continues with Legal and Financial Planning

Newtown Quaker Meeting will continue the monthly Aging Well Series on February 23 at 12:30-2:00 p.m. with a program on Legal and Financial Planning at the Quaker Meetinghouse, 219 Court Street, Newtown. Each attendee is invited to bring a brown bag lunch.

Participants are also invited to attend the Newtown Quaker Meeting for Worship based on expectant silence from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

The meeting facilitator will be Lisa Collins, Attorney, and member of Fallsington Quaker Meeting.

The discussion will include reviewing the documents you should have in place as part of your estate plan (of any size): advance directives, powers of attorney, wills, and other materials. Also to be discussed will be questions regarding Medicare, Long Term Care Insurance and Medicaid and how they fit in.

Lisa Bellet Collins practices law in Yardley, focusing on estate planning, elder law, and probate. Previouly, Lisa worked with the New Jersey Department of Health representing the Department in administrative hearings to decertify nurse aides who abused elderly nursing home residents. Her experience there gave her insight into the complex needs of older persons, and the difficulties often faced by families caring for older family members. It also strengthened Lisa's life-long passion for serving the needs of the elderly and their families, and led her to go to Temple Law School.

April 19, Downsizing and Organizing. Facilitator: Carol Bernard, Hocksessing Quaker Meeting.

May 31, Memory Loss & Dementia: Signs, stages, strategies for managing memory loss.

June 21, Healthy Aging. Facilitator: Chiyo Moriuchi, Newtown Quaker Meeting.

Newtown Friends Meeting, is open to the public, with Sunday School classes for children and adults at 9:45 a.m. and worship based on expectant silence “after the manner of Friends” at 11 a.m. Childcare is provided.
