NEWTOWN, PA — The Borscht Belt Delicatessen has officially opened a third location at the Trenton Farmers Market.

The Newtown-based Jewish deli, owned by Bucks County native and celebrity chef Nick Liberato, and his business partner, Mike Dalewicz, has expanded its operations to New Jersey’s capital city and its famous farmers market.

The Borscht Belt will be operating a booth inside the market at 960 Spruce Street every Friday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“It is great to be back in New Jersey where the Borscht Belt started,” said Dalewicz. “The Trenton Farmers Market is a ‘hidden gem’ with farm stands, artisanal shops and purveyors of different cultures along with your traditional Amish Market staples.

“We have so many loyal guests from the Mercer County area that make the trip to Newtown for the full Borscht Belt experience, but wished we were closer for weekend Ess a Bagels and other treats to share with friends and family. We look forward to growing our presence there and expanding the offerings.”

Its market location offers freshly baked Ess-a-Bagels with schmears, homemade appetizing by Chef Liberato, Samaki smoked salmon, salads, and fresh breads and baked goods including its famous Chocolate Babka and black and white cookies.

In addition, they will be offering hot knishes, hot dogs, Reuben eggrolls, pickles, Matzo Ball Soup, and a full platter and catering menu with sandwiches available for pickup with 24-hour notice.

“Come visit the Borscht Belt and indulge in the best New York City bagels without the wait,” said Dalewicz. “Don't miss out on a culinary adventure that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving for more.”

A farmer-owned cooperative since 1939 and located on Spruce Street in Lawrence, New Jersey, since 1948, the Trenton Farmers Market is filled with a wide selection of Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables, a smoke shop, Amish meats and poultry, a Polish deli kielbasa, artisan cheese, baked goods, BBQ, rotisserie chicken, vegan selections, clothing, jewelry, handbags, home goods, essential and CBD oils, hand crafted soaps and body care, sweets and nuts, donuts, local wine, burgers, steak sandwiches, and fries.

In addition to its booth at the Trenton Farmers Market and its main location at the Village at Newtown South, the deli operates a location inside the St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township.

After building a successful catering career in Los Angeles and appearing on several food-themed television shows, Liberato returned home to Bucks County in 2020 to form a hospitality group that launched the original Borscht Belt location in Stockton, N.J., in June 2021. The Borscht Belt moved to its current location in Newtown last May.
