No Evidence A Shooting Was Planned At Council Rock North Thursday, Police Say
Authorities have investigated and say they found no credible evidence a shooting was planned Thursday at Council Rock North.

Newtown Township Police say they found no credible evidence to substantiate the rumors that a shooting was planned Thursday at Council Rock High School North.
Police conducted an investigation after a social media rumor circulated, prompting the district superintendent to issue a statement. Police said they received the initial report about the rumors of school violence from a concerned parent at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The student told their parents that there was information going around that there would be a shooting in the school on Thursday. Police said they spoke with the reporting students in the presence of their parents, and officers received conflicting stories from students. No additional information was developed, police said.

Sources tell Patch the rumors were circulated through SnapChat. The rumors were vague and only indicated someone was bringing a gun to the school Thursday. No images of specific students or names of students were included in the social media communications in question.
Throughout the day Thursday, there was additional police presence at the school and parents were on high alert. Many parents were rattled enough by the rumors to keep their kids home for the day. The school was technically open, but parents tell Patch there were very few students there.
"Newtown Township Police and representatives of the Council Rock School District worked diligently to bring this situation to a safe and satisfactory resolution," police said in a statement Thursday night.
