The college has expanded resources, counseling access, and clear guidance on warning signs, aiming to better protect Newtown-area students' well-being throughout the 2026-27 academic year.
   

2. Newtown Artesian Water Co. Warns Customers Of Fraudulent Robocalls (patch.com) — Newtown Artesian Water customers are being urged to ignore scam robocalls that falsely claim payments are due and direct residents to call a fraudulent 1-800 number. The Newtown-based utility has involved law enforcement and federal agencies, and is advising anyone who paid to immediately contact their bank and file reports with the FTC and FBI.
   

3. College Abruptly Cancels Prescreening Of "Bucks County, USA" Docuseries (patch.com) — Residents in and around Newtown are learning that Bucks County Community College abruptly canceled a sold-out prescreening of the PBS docuseries "Bucks County, USA" just one day before it was to be shown on campus. Citing unspecified safety concerns, the college scrapped the event featuring Judy Woodruff and key participants, while the filmmakers now seek a new local venue ahead of the series' Sept. 20 PBS debut.
   

4. Man Charged With Robbery, Woman Reports Sexual Assault: Newtown Twp. Police (patch.com) — Newtown Township police logged a busy week, including DUI arrests on the Newtown Bypass, a robbery arrest at a local business, and an investigation into a reported sexual assault involving a ride-share trip. Officers also handled a search warrant tied to internet crimes against children, a juvenile alcohol theft at Acme, school vandalism, and several warrant-related arrests.
   

5. 2026 Engineering Leader Under 40: Pratik Ainapure, 29 (controleng.com) — A 29-year-old associate engineering manager at Catalyx in Newtown is being recognized for leading a seven-person team that designs custom robotic and vision equipment for pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. He's also revamped the company's training program for new engineering graduates, broadening their exposure to electrical, mechanical, software, and regulatory topics to build stronger early-career skills.
