• Unaccompanied Service To Honor 5 Veterans At Washington Crossing Cemetery (patch.com) — Community members in Newtown are invited Thursday to Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Highland Road to help honor five unaccompanied veterans, including one from Bucks County. The public ceremony will feature full military honors, a vehicle escort, and placement of each veteran in an individual niche, ensuring they are remembered with dignity despite having no known family.
   

• Homebuilder to buy scrapped Newtown sewage plant property (phillyburbs.com) — Plans for a major sewage treatment plant near Holy Family University in Newtown Township have been scrapped, and the land is now under agreement to be sold to DeLuca Homes for housing instead. The Newtown Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority says the deal lets it avoid a steep 47% rate hike for customers while shifting the site back toward residential development, pending township approvals and zoning changes.
   

• The Red Cross and Hello Kitty® and Friends join forces to help save lives (northpennnow.com) — Newtown residents can give blood locally on September 3 at Lutheran Church of God's Love and September 14 at Rose Bank Winery, both in town. These drives are part of a larger Red Cross push, with Hello Kitty-themed thank-you gifts, to shore up the region's vulnerable blood supply heading into fall.
