Philanthropist Issues Challenge To Bucks County Marching Band
If the band collects $1,000 in donations through October, the Epstein Humanitarian Fund will match it with a $1,000 contribution.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund is offering a fundraising challenge to benefit the Council Rock North Marching Band. If the band raises $1,000 by the end of October, the fund will match that with a $1,000 donation.
Gene Epstein said after reading about the band’s fundraising efforts this fall, he was motivated by his music-loving wife to make the offer.
“Ever since high school, my bride of 62 years has enjoyed watching and listening to marching bands,” said Epstein. “After hearing of your need to raise money, I thought it was imperative to act immediately.”

Epstein is hoping that the challenge will inspire others who are entertained by the band to chip in whatever they can to help the award-winning ensemble flourish.
The 55-member band has been raising money for general expenses and for a performance tour of Hawaii, while keeping a busy performance schedule at football games, competitions, and parades. Efforts have included a car wash, raffles, a used clothing drive, and a band alumni reunion at the next homecoming game.
