While there has been a cougar sighting reported to Bucks County police in the past year, authorities have said there is no evidence to believe the animal spotted was actually a cougar.

In October, a Buckingham resident reported seeing a cougar on Mill Road and Route 263. However, when contacted by Patch, local police said there is no evidence to back up the report of the cougar sighting.

“Over the years there have been similar reports that also remain unfounded. More than likely this animal was a coyote or a large domestic cat,” Buckingham Police Lieutenant J.R. Landis said back in the fall around the time of the sighting.
