Popular Grilled Cheese Chain Melt Looks To Open Newtown Location

Melt, a restaurant chain specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches, is proposing a new location at the Village at Newtown shopping center.

NEWTOWN, PA — Melt, a New York-based grilled cheese chain, is looking to open a location in Newtown.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors will be reviewing Melt's conditional use application at a meeting tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 28. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Melt has an existing store at the King of Prussia Mall, as well as locations in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and at the Mall of America in Minnesota.

The menus vary by location, but all include an array of savory sandwiches with creative combinations. Dishes on the menu at the King of Prussia location include chicken melts, burger melts, maple bacon grilled cheeses, salads, milkshakes, and house-made chicken tenders.

An opening timeline has not yet been set, Melt representatives tell Patch.

The franchisee is Drew Smith, who owns 23 Five Guys locations the Philly area, according to Philadelphia Magazine. Smith also has plans for 20 to 30 more Melt locations across the region, including in Langhorne, the publication reported.
