Restaurant And Pub To Open At Shuttered Iron Hill Brewery In Newtown

A spokeperson with the Village at Newtown Shopping Center confirmed that a lease has been signed for the 8,000 square foot space.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — PJ Whelihan's Pub and Restaurant is coming to the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

Kristin Moore, a spokesperson for the Brixmor Property Group, which manages the shopping center, confirmed in an email that the New Jersey-based PJW Restaurant Group has signed a lease with the shopping center and will be opening at the former Iron Hill Brewery site.

The Delaware-based Iron Hill Brewery shut down operations in September when the chain declared bankruptcy and closed all of its restaurants, including its newest location at the Village at Newtown.

PJW Restaurant Group operates 25 PJ Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant locations, including in Doylestown at the Cross Keys Place Shopping Center. The casual pub and eatery is known for its pub fare, including its wings with more than 10 signature sauces, famous fries, burgers and handhelds, soups and chili, salads, dips and nachos and more.

Main course offerings include chicken tenders, pub steak, rack of ribs, fish and chips, crab cakes, fire-grilled salmon, keto fajita bowl and a boneless wings platter.

The restaurant also features seasonal cocktails, ciders and teas and an expansive selection of bottled and draft beers.

The main bar houses 36 taps and featureslocal beers, including the group’s signature 22 ounce PJW Copper Lager, brewed exclusively for the restaurant by Victory Brewing Company

And for a sweet ending, dessert offerings include a Cookie Crunch Brownie, a Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownie and a Salted Carmel Cookie.

The group also operates the Pour House, which has locations in Exton, North Wales, and Haddon Township, N.J.; the ChopHouse in Gibbsboro; the ChopHouse Grille in Exton; Central Taco & Tequila in Haddon Township, N.J.; and Treno Pizza Bar, also in Haddon Township, N.J.

Founded in 1983 by Bob Platzer, with the help and support of his wife Donna, PJW Restaurant Group has grown from one restaurant to 32 with six different dining concepts throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Village at Newtown is also home to McCaffrey's Market, Ulta Beauty, Capital Grille, Steven Singer Jewelers, Starbucks, Bank of America, Bomba Tacos, Chipotle, Flourish Cafe, Norman's Hallmark, Lululemon, Ardana, Cava, Wells Fargo, Playa Bowls, Santander Bank, Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar, Turning Point, and more.
