Purple Tie Ball Planned to Raise Money for Pancreatic Cancer Research
The event, organized by Newtown-based Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer, will be held Nov. 15 at the Makefield Highlands Golf Club.
Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer, a Newtown-based non-profit dedicated to raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and advocating for increased federal funding for research, is planning a Purple Tie Ball fundraiser next month.
The event will be held Nov. 15 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Makefield Highlands Golf Club in Yardley.
The Purple Tie Ball will feature dinner, dancing and a silent auction. All Purple Tie Ball attendees will have their pictures taken on the “purple carpet” before entering the event by Ellen Henderson Photography.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Dr. DJ Paulish Entertaiment. All attendees are encouraged to where purple ties or gowns.
Pancreatic Cancer researchers Dr. Charles Yeo and Dr. Jonathan Brody will be in attendance at the event to give updates on their research to develop novel treatment methods to kill pancreatic cancer cells before they multiply and metastasize.

Less than 100 tickets remain, said Robert Ciervo, Chairman of Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
“Pancreatic Cancer is one of the deadliest cancers with only a 5% five year survival rate and it claims more than twice as many U.S. lives as HIV/AIDS each year with over 40,000 lost to this cancer yearly in the United States. The average life expectancy of someone diagnosed with pancreatic cancer today is still only 6 months. November has been dedicated by the U.S. Congress as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month since 2003 and purple is the advocacy color for pancreatic cancer,” according to information from the organization.
In the last five years, Fund A Cure for Pancreatic Cancer has donated $133,000 to the pancreatic cancer research team of Jefferson University Hospital. Last November the charity donated $31,000 to the research team and hope to raise at least $50,000 this year through sponsorships, online donations and a silent auction.
