Rash Of Thefts From Cars Reported In Newtown Township
Multiple reports of thefts from cars over two days in Newtown Township.

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent incidents:
June 4
- A Wrightstown Township resident reported receiving a fraudulent letter. The letter stated that the complainant needed to pay a “confidentiality fee” utilizing BITCOIN or certain information would be released. The complainant did not pay any “confidentiality fees,” believing the letter to be a scam, and police confirmed that the letter is a known scam.
- The co-owner of Arya Oriental Rugs came to headquarters to report vandalism at her business. The victim explained that she noticed that something had struck her store’s rear window and had broken the exterior pane. Police went to the store to process the scene and suspect possible criminal mischief. The estimated damage is less than $500.

- An officer was dispatched to a Parkview Way residence just after 5:00 am for the report of a theft from a vehicle. The officer made contact with the vehicle owner, who related that he had left his vehicle parked in the driveway had left it unlocked overnight. When the victim entered his vehicle that morning, he began to notice that several items were out of place and that approximately $10 in change had been stolen.
- Around 8:00 am a Valley View Way resident contacted police to report a theft from their vehicle. The victim related that sometime overnight between 9:30 pm and 7:45 am that morning someone had stolen his passport and about $3 in loose change. The victim also related that his wife’s car was gone through, but nothing appeared to have been taken. The victim further related that the vehicles had been parked in their driveway and had been unlocked that night.
- At approximately 8:15 am a Skyview Way resident contacted police to report a theft from his vehicle. The victim reported that sometime overnight between 9:30 pm and 8:00 am that morning someone stole his social security card, birth certificate, financial papers, checks, tax returns, computer and iPad from his vehicle. The victim reported that his girlfriend’s car also appeared to have been gone through, but he does not think that anything was taken. The victim believes that his car had been locked at the time, and both vehicles were parked in the driveway.
- A Newtown Township resident reported that an unknown person had duplicated his debit card and was using it to make fraudulent purchases. The total reported loss is $1,088.40.
- Another Skyview Way resident contacted police to report a theft from her vehicle that had occurred overnight. The victim reported that her vehicle had been unlocked and parked in her driveway from 8:00 pm the night before to 10:00 am that morning. The items stolen from the vehicle included the vehicle’s registration and insurance card and approximately $4.00 in change.
- An officer was dispatched to a Parsons Lane residence at 12:30 pm for the report of a suspicious occurrence. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the complainant who reported that his wife had heard a pop the day before. The complainant and his wife then found that the outer pane of one of their windows had been broken. The officer processed the scene, and there was no evidence to indicate how the window had actually been broken.
- At 1:35 pm another Valley View resident contacted police to report a theft from her vehicle. The victim reported that her vehicle had been unlocked and that sometime between midnight and 2:00 am someone had rummaged through the vehicle. The victim reported that $1.00 was stolen.
- At 3:30 pm an East Park Road resident responded to headquarters to report a theft. The victim explained that sometime overnight his set of golf clubs was stolen from the trunk of his car. The victim made this discovery at 8:00 am. The victim believed that the vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft. The approximate value of loss is $650.00.
- Police were dispatched to another Parkview Way residence at 7:15 pm for the report of a theft from a vehicle. Upon arrival police spoke with the victim who stated that sometime between 9:00 pm the night before and 7:30 am that morning someone had entered his unlocked vehicle that had been parked on Parkview Way. Approximately $5.00 in loose change and a cell phone mount were taken.
