NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — With a little more than a month to go before the election, Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance brought the Trump campaign to the all-important Philadelphia suburbs on Saturday.

Standing before a crowd numbering north of 1500 gathered inside the Newtown Sports and Events Center, the Ohio Senator touched on many of the hot-button topics of the election, including the southern border, inflation, and the wars in the Ukraine and the Middle East in a 30-minute speech that repeatedly took Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris to task for not taking action before to address the issues.

“The problem with Kamala Harris is she’s got no substance. The problem with Kamala Harris is she’s got no plan. And the problem with Kamala Harris is she’s been the vice president for four and a half years and has failed this country,” said Vance.

Addressing the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, Vance said in 2016 former President Trump was the candidate of peace who brought civility to the world. “The Harris campaign says he was not the candidate for peace, but we know he was the candidate of peace. He was the candidate
of prosperity and he was the candidate of the American citizenry and putting America first.”

On fracking in Pennsylvania, Vance borrowed from a Trump line made famous in 2016, “Drill baby, drill.

“We have great natural gas right here in Pennsylvania. Let’s get it out of the ground,” he said. “Kamala Harris is not about buying gas from America but from every tinpot dictator from all over the world. Kamala, we say, no way. We’re going to buy it from our own people right here in the state of Pennsylvania.”

On the economy, Vance said since Harris took office inflation is running at 49-year highs and groceries are 25 percent higher.

“That’s because Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote on almost four trillion dollars of new spending, printing money that we don’t have to juice inflation and destroy the middle class,” he said.

Turning to the southern border, Vance said the Trump-Vance Administration will secure the border, finish the wall, reimplement deportation, and go to war with the Mexican drug cartels.

“Kamala Harris doesn’t have an ounce of proposal or an ounce of plan,” said Vance. “She has been the vice president for three and a half years and she’ll say to a crowd without an ounce of humility or shame on day one we’re going to tackle the wide open southern border, on day one we’re going to make groceries and housing more affordable for American citizens. But Kamala, day one was 1400 days ago. What the hell have you been doing? Stop talking about it and just do it.”

Vance will be appearing on Tuesday in a nationally-televised vice presidential debate with Democratic vice presidential nominee former Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Before Vance took the stage, Jim Worthington, the owner of the athletic complex and chair of the Pennsylvania Republican delegation, joined Pennsylvania Republican Party Chair Lawrence Tabas, state treasurer Stacy Garrity, and Pennsylvania Congressmen Lloyd Smucker and Dan Meuser in warming up the crowd for the Ohio Senator who is campaigning here while the former President Trump stomps through the Upper Midwest this weekend.

“Winning starts with two great candidates. It’s obviously President Donald Trump, the greatest president of my lifetime, and JD Vance who is a rock star and the future of the Republican Party,” said Worthington who announced that they had raised seven figures for the Trump re-election campaign Saturday afternoon.

“If you win Bucks County and keep the Southeast close, you win Pennsylvania and he’s President of the United States. You can affect it. You can do it,” he told the crowd encouraging every supporter to get involved and to reach out to every Republican friend and acquaintance to vote for Trump. “We can do this,” he told the crowd.

The Harris-Walz Campaign

According to Harris Campaign website, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for “a new way forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead.”

On the economy, Vice President Harris said she believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong. She has proposed the creation of an opportunity economy “where everyone has a chance to compete and a chance to succeed — whether they live in a rural area, small town, or big city.

As President, Harris said she will "fight to cut taxes for more than 100 million working and middle-class Americans while lowering the costs of everyday needs like health care, housing, and groceries." She said she will also bring together organized labor and workers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and American companies “to create good paying jobs, grow the economy, and ensure that America continues to lead the world.”
