Rotarians Make Donations To A Woman’s Place, Pickering Manor
The Newtown Rotary Club presented checks to A Woman's Place and to Pickiering Manor.
NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Newtown Rotary Club announced two major donations at its November 16 meeting held at the Temperance House.
Rotarian Nathan Breece joined Matt Peters and Michelle El Khoury in presenting the first check for $6,000 to A Wonan’s Place, a Bucks County-based agency that is working to break the cycle of domestic abuse.
The money was raised during a NextGen Rotary fundraising event held on South State Street between Centre Avenue and Penn Street in September.

Jenny Lo and Michelle Fonteix from A Woman’s Place were on hand to accept the donation from the NextGen Rotarians.
“One and three women will see domestic violence in their lives. We also know that one in four men are in an abusive relationship. It’s an epidemic. We want to break the cycle. That’s our mission,” Lo told the Rotarians. “It’s not just in our town here. It’s across the USA. And it’s not just in the USA. It’s international.”

The money will be put toward the group’s 200 night campaign which is seeking to raise enough money to fund 200 nights at the shelter. A single night at the shelter for an abused spouse costs $100.
“For an organization like A Woman’s Place to get that kind of check is just amazing,” said club president Mick Petrucci.
The second check was presented by Petrucci and member Paul Salvatore to Pickering Manor after a reconciliation of its books found money in the club’s budget designated but not yet allocated to Pickering from its annual golf outing.
Rachel Carver from Pickering Manor was on hand to accept a donation of $4,445 from the club. Making the presentation were Petrucci and Pickering Manor Newtown Rotary Club Golf Outing co-chair Paul Salvatore.
“We did the golf outing this year and raised $28,000 on top of this for Pickering,” said Salvatore who co-chaired the outing with Tony Petsis.
