Shir Ami Welcomes New Rabbi: His Goal Is to Bring People of All Ages Together

Rabbi Simon plans to add to the wonderful things Shir Ami. Congregants will feel at home the minute they walk in the building!

Many young children dream of growing up to be doctors, astronauts, or even rock stars. By age four, though, Rabbi Joel Simon was already on the road to becoming a rabbi. Shir Ami will benefit from his decision to pursue that calling since Rabbi Simon began his position as senior rabbi of Shir Ami on July 1, 2015.

Rabbi Simon feels that it’s very important that congregants feel comfortable at their synagogue. His goal is to create such as warm, inviting environment at Shir Ami that kids, teenagers, and adults alike—preschoolers to seniors and everything in between—want to spend more time there and feel as if they’re at home when they walk into the building. His goal is to make Shir Ami a place where people of all ages and all backgrounds can come together to sing and create a Jewish life together.
