NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A popular clothing retailer has opened its first brick and mortar store in Bucks County specializing in athletic wear for the active woman.

FP Movement celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, April 13 next to Ardana Food and Drink at the Village at Newtown shopping center on Eagle Road.

Part of the Philadelphia-based URBN family of brands, FP (Free People) Movement specializes in the latest trends and vintage collections for active women who “live free through fashion, art, music, sports and travel.”

“The response has been tremendous,” said store brand leader Hannah Bergey, standing amidst a crowd of young women shoppers Saturday morning. “We’re packed and it’s only 10:30 a.m. The community is so excited for us to be here.”

The store bustled with young women who browsed through clothing and accessory displays inside the new store. Many of them had just taken part in a yoga session at Barre3, held in conjunction with the store’s opening.

The Bucks County store is the second largest FP Movement store in the company, said Sallie Haas, who oversees store events nationwide for Free People and FP Movement.

“We’re all about creating a happy, healthy lifestyle,” said Haas. “And we’re excited to bring that here to Newtown.”

Customers who visit the store will find a bright and airy shopping environment and a warm, friendly and inspiring group of brand ambassadors ready to answer their questions and meet their activewear needs.

The store is known for its performance wear, but also its casual, everyday, on-the-go wear, said Haas. “It’s about your inner and outward health and happiness and getting everyone moving together. It truly is the destination for the life well lived,” she said of the store.

FP Movement is geared toward all demographics, said Haas. “We have younger ages - a lot of middle schoolers love our brand. We also have older people who love the brand. We have an expansive group of followers from every demographic. There’s something for everyone in our product line.”

The store also carries a unique collection of accessories, including its hugely popular quilted carryalls, brightly-colored Craft sneakers, adventure shorts, rope bags, trail socks, headbands, pullovers, and lots more.

“We’re all about helping people create a happy, inclusive life,” adds Haas. “It’s an infectious brand that makes you happy and it makes you want to spread that happiness to others.”

FP Movement, a spin-off from Free People, opened its first store about three years ago. It now boasts 35 stores with Newtown being the latest to open its doors.

URBN also operates Anthropologie, which has a store at the Promenade on Sycamore Street in Newtown. Its other brands include Urban Outfitters, Terrain, Free People, URBN and Nuuly.
