Teens Caught Using PA System At North Field Late Sunday: Police

Two juveniles were cited this week after police caught them on the Council Rock North High School football field using the PA system late Sunday night.

When officers arrived around 11:15 p.m., loud music was audible coming from the PA system, and lights were turning on.

Two male juveniles were located, and their parents were called. Both juveniles were released to their parents, and citations for trespassing and disorderly conduct were issued, police said.

The following additional incidents were reported by Newtown Township Police:

June 29

• Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Birches at Newtown at approximately 10:30 pm for the report of criminal mischief to a vehicle. When police arrived, they located the vehicle and the complainant. The complainant explained that while she was working there that day her car had been keyed. She suspected that this was another coworker’s retaliation. Police investigated, and the coworker responsible came forward, was issued a citation, and agreed to pay restitution.

July 1

• Police were dispatched to the area of Route 232 and Williams Ave at approximately 11:45 p.m. to meet with a PECO worker who had witnessed a tractor-trailer cause property damage on Williams Ave. The witness reported that he had been in the area working on a local power outage when he heard a loud noise on Williams Ave. He saw a tractor-trailer caught up in several utility lines, and as the truck was moving forward, the tension on the lines was causing them to snap. Utility poles were bent and lines were down all along Williams Ave as a result. The witness had yelled for the truck driver to stop, but the truck left the scene before officers arrived. The driver did not provide any information to the witness before driving off, but the witness was able to provide police with the trailer’s registration plate number. Using this information, police were able to locate the truck and the truck driver involved and issued a citation.

July 2

• Around 7:30 a.m. police were dispatched to a Pheasant Run office building for the report of criminal mischief to the building possibly done by a disgruntled employee. Police arrived and photographed the vandalism which included a spray painted business sign, front door, white van, and picnic tables. Investigation is ongoing.

• At approximately 10 a.m. a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud. The victim explained that she had received and deposited a check for $3,460. The victim was later notified by her bank that the check was fraudulent. Investigation is ongoing.

July 3

• A Newtown Township couple contacted police around 3:45 p.m. to report that they were victims of fraud. The couple reported that they were notified by a loss prevention representative of Raymour and Flanigan furniture store that an account had been created in their names online. The person or persons responsible for creating the account used the victims’ names and social security numbers and ordered $4,000.00 worth of furniture to be delivered to the victim’s address. The actors changed the shipping address last minute before the items were shipped which activated a fraud alert. The account and shipment were terminated as a result, and the victims were notified. Investigation is ongoing.

July 4

• At approximately 8 a.m. a theft from a Wrightstown Township construction site was reported. Investigation is ongoing.

July 5

• While on patrol around 12:45 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle parked at the entrance of Council Rock North High School’s football field and noted that the engine was warm. Police observed two figures on the field and made contact with them. The individuals were identified as two adults who were trespassing. After speaking with Council Rock’s security, it was determined that citations were to be issued. Police pointed out the multiple signs prohibiting trespassing after hours before sending the individuals on their way.
• Police were dispatched around 1 a.m. to a Jane Chapman Drive West residence for a noise complaint. It was reported that there was loud music and a party going on. Upon arrival, the responding officer could hear an unreasonable amount of music coming from the rear of one of the residences. The officer entered the rear of the residence and made contact with three adult subjects that were in the pool. The homeowner spoke with the officer and immediately understood the situation. When asked to tame down the music, the homeowner indicated that they were going to shut down the music for the night and no further police action was required.
