Thefts At BCCC, Optimal Sports Reported To Newtown Twp Police

The thefts were reported this week. Only cash was taken at Optimal Sports; at BCCC entire wallets were snatched.

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent incidents:

January 23

At approximately 3:40 p.m., police responded to the Bucks County Community College for a report of thefts. Upon arrival the officer met with two victims who stated their wallets were stolen from their book bags while they were in the gym. Both confirmed that gym class started at 1:20 and ended at 2:30 p.m. and the book bags were placed in unlocked lockers. Each victim told the officer that only their wallets were stolen leaving behind their cell phones. The wallets each contained gift cards, debit cards along with the owners’ personal information including their driver’s licenses. The surveillance cameras in the area will be checked by college security personnel.

A Newtown Township resident came to police headquarters around 7:20 p.m. to report unauthorized activity on his credit card. The victim physically had the card with him, but has canceled it and received a new one. The card company was going to refund the $3,315 that had been fraudulent charged to the victim’s account.

At approximately 3:50 p.m. police were dispatched to the Optimal Sports Health Club for a report of a theft. The responding officer met with three victims who all stated that they had locked their respective lockers. Various items were stored in the locker but the only cash was taken. The situation remains under investigation.
