UPDATE: Traffic Delays Expected In Newtown Area Due To JD Vance Visit

The Monday evening visit is expected to impact traffic on I-295 in Lower Makefield, the Newtown Bypass and other nearby roads.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Motorists can expect traffic delays and intermittent road closures Monday evening in Lower Makefield and Newtown Township due a visit to the area by Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance.

The Ohio Senator is scheduled to attend an Election Eve Rally at the Newtown Sports and Events Center on Pheasant Run Road in Newtown Township.

The Pennsylvania State Police said traffic disruptions can be expected Monday evening from 7 to 10 p.m. on the following roadways:

  • I-295 in Lower Makefield (northbound and southbound)
  • The Newtown Bypass (Route 332) in Lower Makefield and Newtown townships.

"It is anticipated these traffic disruptions will cause other roads throughout the region to also be impacted," Pennsylvania State Police said.

In addition, temporary road closures will be in effect from 6 to 10 p.m. on the following roads in Newtown Township:

  • Penns Trail between the Newtown Bypass and Friends Lane.
  • Pheasant Run between Penns Trail and Terry Drive.

"We ask that during this period, please use alternative routes to reach your destinations and expect traffic delays in the area," posted the Newtown Township Police Department on social media. "Local access to businesses will be allowed."
