NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — UFOs over Doylestown. Spooky spirits at the Plumsteadville Inn. And historical high jinks at a New Hope lodging establishment.

That’s just a taste of the paranormal happenings in Bucks County that will be revealed during a Halloween weekend show at the historic Newtown Theatre.

Eric Mintel Investigates brings his Paranormal Projection Room to the theatre on Sunday, October 30 for a spooky Halloween Eve presentation beginning at 7:30 p.m.

If Mintel’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s an accomplished regional jazz musician and the leader of the Eric Mintel Quartet. But when he’s not playing, he’s investigating the paranormal, a subject that has interested him since he was young.

In 2016, Mintel launched Bucks County Paranormal Investigations to share the many paranormal stories he heard as a kid growing up here.

“Bucks County is rich in all this great history and all this great paranormal history that I’ve heard over the years," said Mintel. "The idea was we wanted to tell these stories of these great historical locations that people pass by every day and they have no history of the back story of these places.”

A few years after starting Bucks County Paranormal, Mintel changed the name to Eric Mintel Investigates and broadened his focus to paranormal and odd occurrences across the nation like the Dogman sightings in Wisconsin, which he’ll share with the audience on October 30.

“We had an encounter with one in Elkhorn, Wisconsin last year. It was one of the most scariest, spookiest nights of our lives. And we’re still wrapping our hands around what it could have been,” said Mintel, “but we got it all on video.”

Also at the event he’ll be showing a haunting at the Hanover Road Mill House in Bethlehem. “When people see what happens on this video they are going to be shocked by what we caught on camera.”

Closer to home, Mintel will share video and eyewitness accounts of UFOs over Doylestown, which Mintel calls a hotbed of UFO activity.

“I just re-cut that to include a lot of new eyewitness accounts of UFO sightings,” said Mintel. “People are seeing an oval-shaped object with lights around it hovering very low over Doylestown. And it’s not just one person. There are a few hundred who have been seeing this thing. It’s just fascinating.”

Mintel will also share another Bucks County video involving the Wedgewood Inn in New Hope. In a video, he speaks to the owners about the discovery of a tunnel beneath the inn.

He’ll also be sharing video from the Plumsteadville Inn. “That place is crazy haunted,” said Mintel. “I didn’t think we were going to capture anything, but it was just insane. And we got it all on video.”

So why does Bucks County seem to attract so much paranormal activity?

“In 2008, we had a huge UFO flap in Bucks County. UFOs were seen by thousands. But why Bucks County? Is it a popular area, an extraterrestrial pit stop? I don’t know,” said Mintel. “Bucks County does have a deep and rich history. Here’s the other thing. Could it be certain minerals in the soil? Maybe it’s the atmospheric conditions?

“That’s why we do the research. That’s why we investigate,” said Mintel. “That’s why we’re constantly looking for answers.”

Tickets for the Oct. 30 event are $15 for the public and $10 for theatre members. The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough. For more information and tickets, visit www.TheNewtownTheatre.com/even... .
