Upper Makefield Business Association Makes Donation To Shop With A Cop
The program relies on donations from the community — local businesses, private sponsors, and individuals — to make it happen.

WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA — The Upper Makefield Business Association on Nov. 13 presented a check for $3,500 to the Upper Makefield Township Police Department and this year's Shop With a Cop experience.
Four police departments - Upper Makefield, Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Northampton Township - are again teaming up to present the event on Dec. 7 inside the Target store in Middletown Township.
"Shop With a Cop” is a national program that pairs police officers with children who are facing difficult life challenges, including a parent losing a job, personal tragedy, homelessness, military deployment, economic shortcomings, and other hardships.

At the event, each child is allotted a budget of a few hundred dollars to purchase gifts for themselves and their family members. The kids are then paired up with a police officer for a holiday shopping spree like no other.
The magic that unfolds in the aisles and checkout lines is priceless, not just for the child, but also for the cops who get to be part of something special.

Participating children range in age from five to 13 and are recommended through the Council Rock School District's social workers and nurses.
Shop with a Cop relies on donations from the community — local businesses, private sponsors, and individuals — to make it happen. Volunteers also are needed to help with gift wrapping, hosting, and registration to ensure each child is given a meaningful and fun experience.
The public can also support the program by sending a check or Venmo donation to the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. Click here for a donation form.
