Upper Makefield Native's CBD Soda Business Rapidly Expanding

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA —An Upper Makefield native who launched a line of CBD sodas has recently scored a major contract to sell to hundreds of stores in Happy Valley.

cbdelight, a line of sodas and mixers with 20mg CBD, will be sold in more than 500 stores, bars and restaurants in Happy Valley and the surrounding counties, according to Good Design Inc., the producers of cbdelight. The CEO is Upper Makefield native, Ashleigh Baldwin.

The company has partnered with Pennsylvania-based distributor Nittany Beverage to sell the soda throughout central Pennsylvania. CBD is described as a relaxing, mellow alternative to alcohol.

Produced in Trumbauersville, Bucks County, cbdelight is made with all natural ingredients and has 20mg of broad-spectrum CBD in every can.

"Broad spectrum CBD means the hemp oil contains all of the compounds found in the hemp flower, minus the THC. Flavors include lemonade, cola, ice tea, ginger beer and several zero-sugar options," the company explained.

The makers of cbdelight are one of the 300-plus permit holders allowed to grow hemp in Pennsylvania. The hemp for cbdelight drinks is grown on an Upper Bucks County farm near Quakertown.

The company employs 40 area residents, who work to plant, produce, design and market the product.

According to the company, cbdelight is already in hundreds of bars and restaurants throughout Pennsylvania where it is served as both a cocktail mixer and an alcohol alternative, "a rare feat for a soda."

“Distributors such as Nittany Beverage have a high touch point along with a high level of service. In many markets, cbdelight is one of the first CBD beverages to show up on shelves. It’s definitely the most affordable," said Baldwin. "Therefore, we want to have a distribution partner who understands our product, and is willing to speak to their customers about the importance of CBD and this emerging category.”
