Warm Weather Expected for Christmas Crossing Reenactment

The annual reenactment of General George Washington's Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware River will again be held this year.

The annual reenactment of General George Washington’s Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware River will again be held this year.

Organizers are expecting record warmth during the event, which gets underway at 1 p.m. at Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing.

“During this family-friendly event, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats,” according to an event description.

The Christmas Day crossing is free to attend.

River crossings are contingent upon safe conditions for participants.

During the Crossing, visitors are to remain behind the rope lines. Organizers suggest arriving before 1 p.m. on Christmas Day.
