Was It A Meteor That Streaked Across The Bucks County Sky On Monday?
Newtown Township resident captures image of an orange streak crossing the sky early Monday evening in Lower Bucks.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — So what went streaking across the sky above Bucks County on Monday night at around 6:15 p.m.?
Newtown Township resident Valerie Mihalek captured this image on her phone as she was headed toward Council Rock High School North.
"My daughter Elizabeth saw it first," Valerie told Patch. "She said, 'Mom. There's a rocket launch.' I said honey we don't live near NASA in Florida anymore. It can't be. But that's honestly what it looked like. Then instead of going up, it seemed to descend."

Was it Elon Musk's Space X? Was it a comet speeding by? Was it part of the Orionoid meteor shower that was at its peak on Sunday and Monday? Or was it just a condensation trail from a jet made extremely pronounced by the sunset?
We may never know, but the image caught by Valerie is very cool and exciting to see and to image just what it was that drew attention to the sky Monday evening over Bucks County.

Update:
John Bochanski wrote this in an email to Patch. "I saw your article about the 'meteor' on Monday evening. I’m local, and a professional astronomer, and that was definitely a plane. My daughter pointed it out and I looked but it was a plane. 100 percent. The comet that was visible last week was cool though!"
