Weekend Planner: Youth Yard Sale, Library 5K

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few options:

ART SHOW

Where/when: Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Countryside Framing and Radhouse Studios

Why go: The show will feature works by artists Michael Buszko and Esther Sternberg.  There will be light refreshements and wine

LIBRARY 5K

Where/when: Saturday at the registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Why go: Support the Newtown Lbrary Company while getting an active start to the weekend. The Children’s Fun Run starts at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:30 a.m. Following the children's fun run, there will be children’s games, seasonal crafts, live music and Zumba.

Cost: $25

SHREDDING DAY           

Where/when: Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bucks County Community College

Why go: The First National Bank is sponsoring this shredding event. Bring up to four boxes of materials to be shredded; personal documents only.

Cost: Free

COMMUNITY YOUTH YARD SALE        

Where/when: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roberts Ridge Park

Why go: Pick up great bargains on children’s items, plus support the Noah’s Playground project. Table rental fees will go towards the effort to build a playground at Veteran’s Park in honor of Noah Cohen, who passed away in 2010 from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The township Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring this sale.

Cost: Items vary, no admission or parking fee to attend the sale

CEMETERY WALKING TOUR

When/when: Sunday at 2 p.m. beginning at the Newtown Cemetery Chapel, E. Washington Avenue

Why go: Newtown Historic Association is hosting this exploration into the town’s history through its past residents. The walking tour will be held rain or shine.
