Winter Cocktail Party To Benefit Historic Newtown Library Company
If the snow has got you down, this party will lift your spirits and chase away the winter blues, event organizers say.

NEWTOWN, PA — For more than 22 years, friends and supporters of the historic Newtown Library Company have come together in February to celebrate community and to raise money for the storied borough institution.
This year's event - the Newtown Library Company's Book Lovers Party - will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. at a new venue - the American Legion Hall on Linden Avenue - featuring an evening of cocktails, conversation, entertainment, and fundraising, all to support the oldest continually operating library in Bucks County.
“The party is a wonderful time for our community to connect and celebrate our own historic community gem,” said Nancy Webster, director of historical outreach at the library. “This fundraiser is more than an occasion; it’s a lifeline for sustaining our beloved library’s growth and impact. Your presence and support will help ensure that our library continues to delight and inspire members of all ages for years to come.”

Throughout the evening, guests will also enjoy delicious cuisine provided by Joseph’s Premier Catering. And everyone's favorite raffles will be back, including the ever-popular Wheelbarrow of Cheer, Lottery Ticket Trees, Gift Card Tree, and a silent auction.
This year's cocktail party, taking place at American Legion Hall Post 440, will celebrate the nation's 250th birthday and its veterans, while paying special tribute to Morell Smith, Newtown's only resident killed during World War I. The post is named in honor of Smith, who is buried at the Newtown Cemetery.
Attendees will have the opportunity to view framed photographs of local veterans through a collaboration with the Newtown Historic Association’s Dave and Mary Callahan Research Center. The exhibit will also include letters written by local World War II soldiers who corresponded with community supporter John Janney.
"Guests will be touched by copies of the letters sent home to Janney. John was the caretaker for the Newtown Presbyterian Church on Chancellor Street," said Webster. "We will also have a few personal photos on some of the tables."
The Book Lovers Party is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Newtown Library Company’s website. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and provide businesses with meaningful exposure within the Newtown community. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Newtown Library Company. Tickets are still available.
