PA Governor Raises Minimum Wage for State Workers
Gov. Tom Wolf has signed an executive order increasing the minimum wage for Pennsylvania state workers.

Governor Tom Wolf has signed an executive order increasing the minimum wage for Pennsylvania state workers. The executive order, signed Monday, also covers employees of organizations that negotiate state contracts or that lease property to the commonwealth.
Under the executive order, state employees and those under state contracts must make at least $10.15 an hour.
"Those employees that perform direct services to the commonwealth or spend at least 20 percent of their working time on ancillary services related to the contract or lease will be paid a minimum of $10.15 an hour," Wolf announced Monday.

The change will take effect when contracts or leases are solicited or bilaterally modified on or after July 1, 2016, he said.
Wolf, in signing the executive order, called upon legislators increase the minimum wage for all Pennsylvania workers. The minimum wage is currently $7.25.
