Wrightstown Quakers Celebrate Holidays through Peace and Service

The article highlights holiday events at Wrightstown Quaker Meeting and invites the broader community to participate in these celebrations.

Wrightstown Friends Meeting invites you to celebrate this holiday season in the spirit of peace, community, and service.

At our Sunday School, the children will learn life stories from descendants of early farming Quakers in Bucks County, the history of the Meeting House and the Walking “Purchase,” and a life story of the Berlin Air-Lift. Hands-on activities include making beewax candles, star sun-catchers, and candy parachutes.

Meeting members are elevating their ongoing commitment to the Wrightstown Food Cupboard by raising awareness of food insecurity and ways to help, donating non-perishables, and volunteering to pack and distribute the food. The next distribution will be at noon on Saturday, December 16, at the Penns Park Methodist Church, with packing starting at 10 am. To add a personal touch to this service effort, Meeting adults and children will write holiday cards to the food recipients this coming Sunday, December 3.

On December 17, there will be two festivities. From 11:20 am to 12 noon: we’ll have adults’ singing, a holiday treasure story time, and a dialogue about personal holiday traditions. At 6:30 pm, we’ll gather for our 77th Candle Light Carol Sing -a special annual tradition since 1941- followed by cookies and hot chocolate.

On December 31, we'll have a Homecoming “Meet and Eat” to celebrate New Year and reconnect with young Quaker friends who are home visiting their families.
