Young Bucks Co. Artists 'Painting Hope' For Cancer Research, Lyme Disease Awareness

The artists are auctioning original art, including "Kids Castle, Doylestown," for St. Jude Hospital and the Lyme Resource Network.

NEWTOWN, PA — Twenty-nine young Bucks County artists are showcasing their works throughout June at the Countryside Gallery in Newtown to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital and Lyme Disease awareness.

Dubbed "Painting Hope," the show features individual paintings created by each of the aspiring young artists in addition to three collaborative works that are up for silent auction to benefit St. Jude and the PA Lyme Resource Network (www.PaLyme.org).

Their painting of "Kids Castle, Doylestown" will be auctioned off to the highest bidder to benefit St. Jude while their paintings, "Camelback Bridge Over the Delaware Canal" and "Limes for Lymes," will be auctioned for the PA Lyme Resource Network.

The young artists at Countryside Gallery in Newtown where their works are on display through June.

Pennsylvania leads the nation in Lyme Disease cases, with Bucks County reporting the second-highest rate of cases in the state. Youth are at the highest risk due to outdoor activities.

Bids on the paintings can be made in person or online at youthartsilentauctionbids@aol.com through June 30. The highest bidder will be notified during the first week in July.

In addition to auctioning off the three collaborative works, the students will be selling notecards featuring their individual works, with proceeds benefiting both causes.

“Painting Hope” runs through June 30 at Countryside Gallery, 2 South State Street in historic Newtown. The art show also features an "Eye Spy Art" game (see below) for visitors of all ages.

Admission to Painting Hope is free during gallery hours.
