• Mount Nittany Medical Center facing huge financial loss after designation revoked (wtaj.com) — Residents near Nittany should know Mount Nittany Medical Center is fighting a federal decision that could cut more than $15 million a year in Medicare reimbursements, threatening expansions and hiring of doctors and nurses. The hospital lost its "sole community hospital" status after Penn Highlands State College opened and is now suing, arguing regulators misapplied bed-count rules; the federal government must respond by Oct. 26.
