100 Pounds Of 'High Quality' Marijuana Seized In Montco: DA

Authorities said the woman planned on using the coronavirus crisis "as an opportunity" to sell marijuana in the area.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A hundred pounds of "high quality" marijuana was seized in Montgomery County recently, and one woman has been arrested, the District Attorney's Office announced.

Kayla Messinese, 24, of Edgewater, Maryland, faces felony charges for attempting to sell the pot, which was valued at $200,000, officials said.

DA Kevin Steele said that Messinese planned to "use the COVID-19 emergency as an opportunity to traffic a large amount of marijuana, traveling several hours to King of Prussia to make the transaction."

The Upper Merion police and Montgomery County Detective Bureau determined Messinese would be traveling to the area on Friday, April 3 to deliver the marijuana, according to the DA's office.

They followed her to the 500 block of South Goddard Boulevard, and then to a nearby parking garage, where she delivered the pot to two others. She was arrested on the scene.

Bail was set at $150,000. Messinese did not post bail was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
