2 Arrested For Spree Of 19 Armed Robberies In Montco, Philly: DA

The spree of 19 local armed robberies mostly occurred in broad daylight within a period of five weeks, authorities said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Two men have been charged in a spree of 19 armed robberies that took place in Montgomery County and Philadelphia in just over a month's time in 2018, authorities announced Thursday.

Yasin Lowman, 24, and Isaiah Dykes, 24, both of Philadelphia, face numerous charges for the incidents, in which they netted around $12,000 all told, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said.

The robberies occurred in Springfield, Glenside, Elkins Park, Cheltenham, and Philadelphia between Aug. 17 and Sept. 25, 2018.

On Sept. 23, they committed four separate armed robberies.

In each case, one or both of the men would enter the establishment they were robbing, brandishing a handgun and threatening violence to employees.

  • Aug. 17, 2:05 p.m., Family Dollar at 6555 Green Street, Philadelphia (nothing stolen)
  • Aug. 22, 5:17 p.m., Little Caesar's, 7153 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia (nothing stolen)
  • Aug. 22, 9:20 p.m., Rite Aid at 7401 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia ($800)
  • Aug. 24 at 5 p.m., Rite Aid at 6744 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia ($200-$300)
  • Aug. 24 at 10:45 p.m., Walgreens, 2727 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Wyncote ($332)
  • Sept. 6, 4:06 p.m., Family Dollar, 1812 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia ($451)

Lowman has been charged with 14 counts of robbery with threat of serious bodily injury and related counts. Dykes has been charged with 12 felony counts of robbery with threat of serious bodily injury. They both also face firearms charges for illegally owning the weapons they brandished, authorities said.

Lowman's bail was set at $5 million, and Dykes' at $1 million. Preliminary hearings for both were scheduled for Sept. 26.
