On Saturday, three people were killed in a 64-car accident on I-78 along the Lebanon and Berks county line. There were at least nine tractor-trailer trucks involved in the pileup, the Morning Call reported.

The victims of Saturday’s pileup were identified as Francisca V. Pear, 54, of Bridgewater, N.J.; Kenneth J. Lesko, 50, of Bethpage, N.Y.; and Alfred Dean Kinnick, 57, of Limestone, Tenn.

At least four medical helicopters were on the scene of that accident. Approximately 50 people were transported to seven hospitals in central Pennsylvania and more than 70 people were transported to a shelter set up at the Jonestown Fire Station, Cory Angell, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, told Philly.com.

That wreck was caused by quickly-escalating whiteout conditions, witnesses told PennLive.com.
